Gearing Up For Summer

he long winter is finally over and it is time to make our yards look beautiful again. This may be easier said than done as we dig out our dust-covered lawn mowers and trimmers. What maintenance needs to be done to your trimmer prior to a long season of work?

Sthilusa.com recommends these maintenance tips prior to operating your trimmer for the season.

-Visually inspect your trimmer each time before you operate it. Look for leaks and other dings, bends, or adjustments that may need to be made. Screws and nuts may have come free during previous use.

-Check the control handle and the idle adjustment. Make sure the cutting attachment does not move.

-After fueling your trimmer also check for leaks and be sure not to over fill. Clean the fuel tank if you notice build up.

-Clean or replace the air filter.

-Visually inspect the cooling inlets and clean, if necessary.

-Readjust the idle in the carburetor.

-Clean your trimmer after finishing work for the day.
